5 Ways AOW Planetfall Is and Isn’t Good for Beginners | Age of Wonders Planetfall Review

Creator: Rock Paper Shotgun    Category: Gaming    Added: 05 Aug 2019
Age of Wonders Planetfall is the latest in Triumph Studios’ 4X series, with a thematic departure that leaps into FTL speed and takes us to a sci-fi future. But is it beginner friendly? Astrid isn’t a big player of 4X games, but Planetfall’s talk of laser dinosaurs and turn-based tactical combat intrigued her. So here’s an Age of Wonders Planetfall review for newcomers. Oh, and thanks to Logitech G and the G432 7.1 Surround Sound gaming headset for sponsoring this video. Check out the tech behind the G432 over on the Logitech G site: http://bit.ly/2FkTkbi. The Planetfall release date is 6 August - maybe you’ve seen our Age of Wonders: Planetfall impressions on the channel (check out more PC gameplay here: https://youtu.be/XEnokEJFQcY) and are wondering if you can jump into the game. Hopefully this video has the answers. This is the video team’s Planetfall review, talking you through five ways it is and isn’t good for beginners. We’ll also have an Age of Wonder Planetfall review on the site, which you can read here: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2019/08/05/age-of-wonders-planetfall-review/ The Age of Wonders Planetfall release date comes tomorrow, so give this video a watch. Whether you’re a long-time fan of the Age of Wonders series or a newbie that’s curious after seeing a glimpse of Planetfall at E3 earlier this year, this Age of Wonders Planetfall test will give you some more information about what to expect if you pick it up tomorrow. Age of Wonders usually has a fantasy setting. Age of Wonders Planetfall changes that up, and instead, it takes place in the far reaches of the universe, in the wake of the collapse of a galactic government called the Star Union. Planetfall sees you hopping between planets to build colonies, exploit resources, and assert your dominance in the stars against varying races that each (minus one) evolved from humanity. While it might not be communicated in the best way, the Age of Wonders Planetfall factions are really cool and have a lot of interesting background lore. Astrid’s favourites are the Dvar, big-bellied space dwarves who live inside their atmospheric immersion suits and have beards made of tubes, and the Kir’Ko, a hivemind insectoid race that used to be slaves and are now free. You can give them sunglasses, as RPS treehouse friend Nate Crowley did. All this and more awaits you in our AOW Planetfall review.
