7 Ways Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Is FromSoftware's Kindest And Cruellest Game Yet
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is the kindest AND the cruellest FromSoftware game yet. If it’s tutorials and powerful stealth skills give you an advantage, its combat, difficulty and strange death mechanics make for Hidetaka Miyazaki’s meanest challenge yet. As we explain in this new Sekiro gameplay. Enjoy!
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice arrives on PC on 22 March - it’s so close. We’ll have a full Sekiro review on the channel as soon as we can - plus you can read a Sekiro Shadows Die Twice review on Rock Paper Shotgun: The Site - so for now these are our Sekiro impressions. It’s very easy to get bogged down talking about Sekiro difficulty - as it is with any FromSoftware game - but this game is far more subtle than simple good or bad. We played for a few hours in the earlier levels for this Sekiro test, and got to grips with all its new ideas.
While we’ve not played enough for a full Sekiro PC review - for starters, this is Sekiro PS4 gameplay (so apologies for the murky resolution) - we are already taken with the game’s combat, stealth and unique death mechanics. In Sekiro death is not the end, as you can resurrect and take a second swing at the enemy. This means master Sekiro combat, which is far faster than anything Miyazaki has made before, and forces you to stay up close and personal to apply constant pressure. You have one advantage thanks to Sekiro stealth systems, however, letting you pick off enemies before a bigger fight begins.
Consider this a Sekiro walkthrough for the first few hours - based on our iffy combat skills I’m not sure we can offer a full Sekiro Shadows Die Twice walkthrough on the channel - explaining the basics of how the world works, and how those various ideas mix to create such a challenge. I say that we were iffy, but I think we hold our own in this Sekiro gameplay - although I may have edited out about 50 of my more embarrassing deaths. After a few hours I’m fascinated to see where the game goes next, and can;t wait to dive into it for a Sekiro Shadows Die Twice PC review - please be patient as we try to work on that.
If you watched this Sekiro gameplay and have any questions - or need me to explain anything I’ve said, pop your questions in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer them. And you enjoyed this video, please click the little thumb icon and think about subscribing to Rock Paper Shotgun. We cover any games on PC, and hopefully you’ll enjoy some of other stuff too. Sekiro Shadows Die Twice releases on PC on March 22, so stick around the channel for more of the game after that!
