Mercedes picked up an unexpected but morale boosting result in the Saudi Arabian Grand prix, with George Russell seeing off the challenge of team-mate Lewis Hamilton during the second stint of the race as both cars came home in the top five.
It was a better result than a downbeat Mercedes would have expected coming into the weekend with a car it knows is flawed, and it’s telling that it was Russell who finished ahead, on a weekend where Hamilton made his frustrations with the W14 clear.
