Ferrari signed Carlos Sainz Jr for the 2021 F1 season off the back of the tension that built between Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel in 2019. And while Sainz hasn't joined as a formal number two, there are indications that Ferrari expects him to be a strong back-up to Leclerc, banking points to help the team in the constructors' championship. But as Edd Straw explains, while Sainz won't be a deliberately disruptive force in the team, his level could be higher than Ferrari bargained for, and he's unlikely to have headed to Maranello happy to be Leclerc's wingman.
