F1’s another step closer to getting an 11th team after Andretti Cadillac’s entry won FIA approval, but it’s also diving head first into the worst case scenario.
The search for a potential new F1 team has rumbled on for the whole of 2023, with a pretty contentious backstory before then as well.
Andretti’s been chosen as the only successful bid put forward by the FIA to the final stage of the application process, which is to have “commercial discussions” with F1 itself.
However, this is likely to be the most complicated yet. It essentially boils down to whether Andretti can convince the commercial rights holder to drop an objection it has had for a very long time.
