TWO WEEKS since Red Bull was found guilty of breaking Formula 1’s budget cap in 2021, the wait goes on to discover what its penalty will be.
This has been so drawn out because Red Bull has entered into negotiations with the FIA about its offences - and the FIA has proposed what the penalty should be.
The idea of a team being able to discuss these things will sound worrying to anyone who remembers a secret deal between Ferrari and the FIA following an investigation into suspicions about its 2019 engine.
But like so many things about this situation, it’s not quite that simple.
