McLaren has had a bad start to the 2022 Formula 1 season, managing just six points in the first two races of the season.
Given it has only the eighth-fastest car, it has a long way to go to turn its fortunes around and have any chance even of repeating last year's fourth place in the constructors' championship, let alone take on the leading teams.
Yet after the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Daniel Ricciardo said he wouldn't be surprised if the team could win a race later in the season. So while it was not a prediction, why was he so confident McLaren can make so much progress?
