Dropkick Murphys is the most Irish of American bands. All pints out, the Bostonians baptize their new album Turn Up That Dial at Hellfest.
During a Dropkick Murphys concert, instruments that a priori have nothing to do with each other in joy and good humor: bodhran, guitar, drums, mandolin, accordion... The reason? Americans are the ambassadors of Celtic punk rock, a style which - as its name suggests - mixes hardcore influences and Irish music. We have rarely heard of such an effective alliance.
The Dropkick Murphys have been making musical trips back and forth between their native America and the Emerald Isle since the mid-90s. Spiritual sons of The Pogues and Still Little Fingers, their music is both virile and good-natured, festive and claimant. Compositions in the image of Ireland in short.
Now made up of Al Barr, James Lynch, Ken Casey, Matt Kelly, Tim Brennan and Jeff DaRosa, the Dropkick Murphys are once again returning to the Hellfest Open Air Festival. Will we be entitled to a wall of death against a background of bignou? To a Guinness-moistened circle pit? Answer in this video.
