Carrion Review | Brutal Metroidvania Meets Monster Sim NSFW

Creator: Rock Paper Shotgun    Category: Gaming    Added: 28 Jul 2020

Any Carrion review seems destined to butt heads with YouTube’s violence filter given that it’s full of chewed up humans. But as Colm’s Carrion gameplay (PC) shows, it’s more romp than ruinous - a brutal monster simulator we really enjoyed.

This chewy, gooey adventure caught our eye from the second we saw early gameplay and our Carrion review explains that it largely delivers. Yes, there’s some problems navigating the map - it’s a not-quite-a-Metroidvania, but big enough to get lost - but Carrion upgrades keep the monster evolving and the action fresh for its runtime. This is the RPS video team Carrion review - a Carrion PC review to be precise - and our colleagues on the site will offer some opinions, too. We’ll link to those when they are live. In our Carrion test, however, it ticked most of our monster boxes.

We’ve seen Carrion described as a reverse horror game, in that you aren’t fighting the creature, but willing it on. It’s a pretty good pitch to be honest - Carrion: Become The Monster - and one that it largely delivers as you grow your mass by eating people and learning new skills to tackle bigger enemies. And even it if does add up to something a tad throwaway, it’s an Xbox Game Pass game, so you can play it for the price of a subscription on PC and Xbox. This is a Carrion PC review, but it’ll play the same on all platforms, so consider it a handy Carrion Switch review, too.

Are you going to be playing as a mad monster in Carrion? If so, give us your own Carrion review. If you have any more questions about the game, pop them in the comments and we’ll do our best to fill in the gaps. Thanks for watching Rock Paper Shotgun. Hopefully see you again soon.
