The Fast and the Furious started out as a relatively low-level film about underground street racing in Los Angeles. But somewhere along the line, the creators decided that these characters were going to become international super-spies and that their cars would do things that no car would ever be able to do without exploding. The shift definitely paid off at the box office.
Furious 7 definitely raises some questions (other than “why is that the name of this movie.”) Like how does nobody get hurt in these massive, devastating and frequent car wrecks? Why are they working to get God’s Eye to find the guy that’s following THEM? Just turn around, guys! How are these characters so confident that any of their stunts will work? Why aren’t the police or the army showing up? How did The Rock just flex out of a cast with a broken arm and collarbone? What does “the street always wins” mean, Dom? You just kicked a parking garage.
To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Furious 7! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.
